Any advice on how to get the Parallels tools installed in Windows Server 2016 core install? I find D: drive on the system, with the installer for the tools. But running them doesn't seem to work. Have found one other person asking similar question in the forum, but not answers were provided. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Hello guys; It is few days I'm trying to install Win Server 2016 without success; any tip to help me? Intallation always hangs after the "administrator" creation, the DOS windows opens the installer, it emains active and responsive BUT it does not proceed Thanks...
Hi @KellyG1 , please let us know if you are getting any error message or the installer is not responding.
We are having the same problem. The referenced article is of no help since Windows 2016 server core is in principle "headless". Steps to reproduce: 1. Set up Windows 2016 Server Core 2. Choose Menu -> Actions -> Reinstall Parallels Tools 3. Parallels Tools "DVD" is mounted at drive D: 4. cd d: 5. ptagent.exe Nothing happens. No error messages, nothing... See the attached screenshot
I've managed to get the Parallel Tools installed on Windows Server Core 2016. What I did was: 1. On macOS in finder, navigated to the Applications/Parallels Desktop application, right-click - show package contents 2. Under Resources/Tools copy the 'prl-tools-win.tar.gz' file to my ~/Downloads 3. Extracted the contents of that file with finder. 4. Copied the extracted directory to the Windows server hard drive (by mounting it in macOS) 5. Bootup the Windows 2016 server core 6. At the Windows 2016 command prompt, ran the Setup.exe in of the parallel tools directory. 7. This launched the setup wizard and allowed me to install the tools. I hope that is verbose enough for everyone to follow! Daniel
