hi, I need help with windows update error 0x8000ffff
current version of windows 11 PRO insider Preview build 25120.rs_prerelease.220513-1346
can't update using windows update to version 10.0.25217.1010 (rs.prerelase)

last week windows update could download that new version 25217 and install it to 100% then after reboot new version wasn't installed because of error and system stayed on previous version 25120, now windows update can't even start to download new version 25217 and display error 0x8000ffff
I update to latest parallels pro 18.0.2 and reinstall parallels tools for windows11

    what I made to fix:
troubleshooting option from system troubleshooting for windows update but this tool display no issues detected
    sfc/scannnow
    dism online reinstall
try to start windows update in service mode, safe start of windows with network enabled but in this state of work windows can't run windows update
I used "get help" options suggested by integrated in windows help advisor but no success after reboot still error
i used that commands from CMD with admin rights:
    Code:
    net stop bits
    net stop wuauserv
    net stop appidsvc
    net stop cryptsvc

I have exactly the same problem with the same version of the preview. Have tried everything recommended anywhere and still can't get it to download or install.

I am also having precisely the same issue; I have tried disabling the TPM module, with no joy. I tried all of the troubleshooting steps listed and also on Microsoft forums. Seems there is a Parallels issue with Windows update

Same issue and setups as described. Commenting to bump this up for the developers' attention for a resolve.

Update- looks like Windows 11 Insider Preview 25227.1000 (rs_prerelease) resolved the issue today

Hi all, joining the failing to install group. Still no joy on various attempts to install, reboot, etc.

thank god i found these forums, i've been trying to install this update for the past two months, now it finally took:
    Schermafbeelding 2022-11-17 om 20.28.01.png

I also used the alternative method from here, for it to finally work for me.

Also, there are rumors these problems may stem from microsoft actually blocking the update on vm's for us, because of what they claim unsupported cpu architecture, which though unconfirmed is still bs in my opinion. but i'm glad it finally started this update, it's been going for over an hour now and is at 74%.

Also, the VM seems unusually slow, even for windows... (As per example, arm64 vm's with linux like ubuntu, are a ton more responsive on parallels for me)
