WinXP - no OS installed after installing browser

Bit poster
I'm running Parallels 8 on a 2009 MBP.
I installed XP and Office then took a snapshot.

Then later tried to upgrade IE to ver 8. When I rebooted the virtual machine would not boot telling me there was no OS installed. I thought it was the IE8 install so reverted to the snapshot and installed IE7.
Same thing.
So once again I reverted to the snapshot and installed Chrome.
Same thing.

Please help.
 
ok, it seems it has nothing to do with the browser. something is not right with the virtual machine.
If I shutdown and restart it does the same thing. I then revert back to the last snapshot and it works fine, but the moment the virtual machine is restarted it then tells me no OS installed. Its like its not picking up the HDD.
