xp activation does not work after migration

Hi,

I have migrated my xp pc to a parallels virtual in Mac OS X. When I boot the virtual machine I need to activate XP before I can login.

When I try to do so the xp virtual cannot connect to the activation server. I have a working internet connection on my mac and I am using the shared option in parallels. I just can't get it to work.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Thanks for your reply. My problem is that for the virtual machine setup to complete I need to activate my migrated windows xp computer. When I try to login to windows xp I get the activationscreen and that says that the activation servers cannot not be reached due to network problems. I have set the DHCP according to the kb articles you sent me but that isn't the fix for the problem, still no internetconnectivity.
(Since I cannot login to windows due to this activation problem I cannot use the command prompt, safe mode does not work, parallels states that the virtual still needs to complete the final step before safe mode can be used)

Is there a way to give the virtual a fixed ip address instead of an address through dhcp ? Perhaps that fixes the problem. I can't find anywhere to set a fixed ip address for my xp virtual in parallels. Help is very much appreciated.

I encountered same problem as HRO and when I called Microsoft I received a reply that my software is not genuine. I had my PC for 8 years and it is genuine alright so is this means that because windows is activated in another machine previously then cannot be activated again. In this case what is the point of Parallels?!

And in response to that "senior member" Sir if you can't go beyond activation screen you can't do anything at all
