XP and USB

HI, when I try to access any usb device through Parallels it tells me that the OSX system is holding onto the USB device. I release the devices from OSX but Parallels still thinks it cannot access the devices.

I am running XP in Parallels on a Macbook. Automatic connection to USB is enabled.

Can anyone help.

for some reason, if you look at the device manager from window side, USB controller "The driver for this device are not installed (code 28)" so question is where do i get the Window USB controller driver for MAC Motherboard or is there one?? thank you :confused:

leejsci, what kind of USB device were you tried to connect to Parallels ?

All guys, also, we worked hard on it and made lot of changes in USB emulation in latest builds. Unfortunately it's still not in release state.
 
cruzer mini 128MB USB 2.0(i think).. i have 3016... interesting enough.. I have used winxp sp1 to install my quest OS and i have been updating like crazy:cool: ... and one of those reboots.. it actually recongnized the usb driver from window side. since then no go....i'm doin sp2 updates right now... also... I think you guys are doing a great job!!!!!:D

just FYI.. it was issue with Not having updates from windows... sorry about that... after doing sp2 and 65 updates laters, it was able to locate the correct driver!!!! so we know now... sp2 is minimum requirement for USB drivers to work correctly in 3106...:) thank you
 
Dear keithhulse

make sure your window is updated.. and from device manager deleted the ubs controller, and scan for new device, window should be able to grab the lastest driver from window's update site and install it correctly as intel 82801FB/FBM USB2 enhanced host controller - 265C... good luck!

My Lexar USB2 Multi Reader worked in 1970 and I believe Beta 1, but not in Beta 3 or 3120. As you wrote ...."* Connecting USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices to VM simultaneously will most probably lead to both of them not working".... I disconnected all devices other than my Multi Reader. It still shows up in My Computer as Removable Drives "E", "F", & "G", but card inserted does not appear in any of them. It does appear in OSX and in BootCamp.

I am using a 24" iMac C2D, running OSX 10.4.8, with Apple Bluetooth keyboard & mouse.

Yesterday, 11 January, O'Grady's PowerPage caught up with Benjamin Rudolph, Destop's product manager, at MacWorld Expo. The article, which can be found at http://www.powerpage.org/2007/01/mwsf_parallels_update_due_within_a_few_weeks.html, reports ,"The free update will include full USB and iSight camera support as well as improved 3D graphics and multicore processor support."

in your system properties, go to hardware tap, and select windows update button, and make sure 1st or 2nd radio is selected. click ok out of it. thne go to device manager button. look for any entrie with yellow triangle with ! mark on it... select the device and delete... you will get some prompt asking if you are sure... select yes... then go to Action menu and select "scan for hardware changes" which time, system should pickup the usb controller and install the correct driver as I have mentioned before.. if not let me know... Good luck!!! ;)

Thanks for your help in resolving our USB problems. I have followed your instructions and my stupborn computer will not pick up the usb controller intel 82801FB/FBM USB2 enhanced host controller - 265C. I attempted to download it directly from the Microsoft web site and it would :rolleyes: download it from there either. Any help you give would be appreciated.

I have MacBook Pro with the same problem as Brenda. Device manager says USB controllers is:
Intel(R) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2442
I managed to fool it into placing the 82801FB/FBM controller in but after rebooting I continued to have no success with USB devices. Device manager was upset (little yellow alert sign) with the FB/FBM drivers so I deleted them and the old BA/BAM drivers were automatically reinstalled. So I assume the BA/BAM drivers are correct for my MBP.

I am waiting for the RC to become an update as I have heard and seen a lot of good changes including the USB support. In the meantime I copy files via the shared Parallels folder and use OSX to copy back and forth to the USB drives.
