XP Hangs during start up

I just transported two machines to VM across the network.

One was a Dell laptop running W2k. Worked fine.

The other was an XP box. The XP box hangs during boot up. Starts in safe mode and spends forever running cmd.exe (program runs, but never gets anywhere.

Any suggestions?

Same problem with XP

I brought over a bootable XP partition (Dell Laptop) and have the same issues. I can't boot normally (blue screen) and going into safe mode has me hanging in cmd.exe forever. Not sure what to do next.
