there are several posts about accessing iis from os x and testing the web server from a different browser.
there are good answers there and i have tested several of them.
the ip address of my vm is 10.211.55.3
the port is 1105 (of my current iis web app)
accessing from the xp vm works using localhost:1105 great
i turned off the xp firewall and still cannot access it from os x.
on a whim, i tried accessing the web page from xp vm using 10.211.55.3:1105
to my surprise, it doesn't work at all.
attached are screen shots showing the page in chrome off xp pro working from localhost:1105
and failing from 10.211.55.3:1105
