No networking after upgrade to Lion

Nope, Terminal trick did not work for me under GM Mountain Lion...
Re-install did not solve anything either.

Ah! What DID work however was deleting the launchdemo.com.plist by hand and then re-install! Pfew, works now!!!

Terminal cmds did not work!

Tried the Terminal commands and no joy. The dialog on startup about reset defaults has disappeared but still no connection. And if I try to reset defaults anyway I get the same: 'There was a failure changing the IP address of the Parallels network adapter' message. This is a critical work-related issue for me this morning!

Saw post about launchdemo plist but cannot find that file in my /Library or ~/Library anywhere.

please make sure that you are using Shared Networking. Then click Start -> Run and execute cmd.exe. Type in the appeared window command "ipconfig /all" (make sure that all output fits to the window). Then, without closing the window, click Parallels Destkop menu "Help"->"Report a Problem", send a problem report (it is not necessary to provide description) and post here the report ID.

Hi, I see in the logs that you have executed the command "chmod -R", but chown is also required:

sudo chown -R root:wheel /Library/Parallels/Parallels\ Service.app/Contents/Kexts

In the Parallels Advanced->Network->Change Settings, should Shared or Host be selected? Either one fails fails with 'failure changing the IP address...' when I try to reset.

I believe that all should work now, because output of ls is correct. If it is not, please restart your Mac and post one more problem report.

What about "'failure changing the IP address..." - it is likely a minor problem, it should not affect you any noticeable way.

Likely uninstalling the Parallels completely (via uninstall in dmg-file) and installing it again will help, but to not loose the time, I can suggest you to organize a WebEx remote session to your computer and fix the problem.

Solved!

For the rest of the interested parties: Support took over my Mac and solved the problem quickly and completely -- due to a recursive link hidden in Library preventing network drier from starting! i heartily compliment the Parallels support team and Elric in particular. No way I could have solved on my own without wiping the drive and clean installing everything!

Hi,
The Paralles 9 cannot run on El Capitan, because since that times in Mac OS X the signing of drivers have changed. You need to install the Parallels 11 to have full support of El Capitan.

Hi LasheO, Software development and innovation comes with costs and it is not feasible to keep including new features in older versions. Parallels Desktop 9 and it's earlier version is not officially supported in Mac OS X El Capitan.
