Just looking for some feedback. Does it run? So far, I have heard one person on steam forums having no luck. Just gets a black screen upon launch.

Is your Windows OS 64bit? Fallout 4 will not launch with a 32bit OS.

That's useless. I tried every compatibility mode in Win10.
I think it's because my memory under 8GB or the Video card driver is not support.

Any luck on getting feedback from Bethesda? Any luck getting a refund? I purchased this as a digital download on Amazon? Any suggestions?

On the phone at the moment with Amazon. They're giving a refund on the digital download.

That's good to know. Steam also has refund policy now.

To isolate this issue, please try to recreate the issue in a test virtual machine which can be created as per the steps given in the article http://kb.parallels.com/122641

If the issue persists, please provide us with the following details so that we can analyse and help you further:

    1. Please provide us the steps to reproduce the issue.
    2. Are you facing the issue if you open any game with same/similar system requirements or only when you open Fallout 4?
    3. Please provide us a screenshot when the issue occurs(if possible).

I can't get fallout 4 to run either. It seems I need an Nvidia driver, to go along with my Nvidia GeForce 980, but the driver will not install on parallels or even recognize my video card hardware because parallels runs with its own virtual graphics card.

I've heard that of a workaround by choosing a Boot Camp partition as a VM in parallels. not sure if it works, but I will try it and report back.

hopefully, in the future, parallels will let the user choose between using our hardware or simulating the hardware.

I am beginning to think that relying on Parallels for gaming is not a viable option anymore. I may get a console and hope parallels will allow streaming from xbox at the very least! I wonder if there is also a DirectX requirement. I did not see any for Fallout 4.

    1. Install a copy of Fallout 4 in Windows virtual machine
    2. I am able to play games like Final Fantasy XIV and transistor and a few other games. But according to what folks are saying, this is specific to Fallout 4 and the error message points to graphics driver. But instead of seeing NVIDIA graphics driver, we see the Parallels video driver installed and are unable to change this.
    3. Because of these issues, I have not bought FO4 as of yet.

Please check if Fallout 4's system requirement matches the specifications of Parallels Desktop as Parallels support upto OpenGL 2.1 and DirectX10 only.

Ok, I bought Fallout 4 to try it out knowing that there is a 14 day return policy on Steam. Here are the published system requirements which make no mention of OpenGL 2.1 or DirectX10. Can anything be inferred from this?
    • OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent
    • Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
For me, after installing the game, when I press play, the game immediately crashes with an error: "Fallout 4 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I am going to try and find out how to get a crash report.

If you uninstall the Parallels display adapter and use the generic Windows one the game loads. I've set my settings to low and you have to uncheck Borderless and check windowed mode otherwise it crashes again.

I haven't had chance to play it this way yet so i don't know if once past the menu its playable..

I gave up on running Fallout 4. Since I am getting an Xbox one console later on, I will try out the streaming feature and hope Parallels doesn't fail there.

Fallout 4 can be ran easily within parallels.. Simply download (if not already present on your system) DXCLP... Add Fallout4.exe to the scopelist and then under device list, click Force WARP.. This will enable fallout4 to run with full dx11 support on the dx10 parallels driver :)
