As a user I would like to access all my windows disks, including external USB disks, when VM is not running.

Hello @AlexG4, please go to spotlight search and type .pvm and right click on it and choose open with Parallels mounter and check if this helps. In order to start Windows, you need to eject virtual driver mounted on Finder. Thanks, Meena.

    Hi
That's great, but I need to write on my external USB drive.
Can I do that without starting VM?
    That's what I am suggesting.

Yes, you can do that. please shut down your Windows virtual machine and go to spotlight search and type .pvm and right click on it and choose open with Parallels Mounter. Please connect your USB drive to your Mac and copy that file. Thanks!

I am not sure you understand the scenario.
I have an external USB drive formatted as NTFS.
I would like to be able to write to this drive.
Today I need to start Parallels Desktop and boot Windows VM.
Then I can access my NTFS drive and write any files I want.
What I am suggesting is to allow to mount NTFS drives in read/write mode using Parallels Toolbox, without a need to start VM.
I hope this is clear now?

    Hi AlexG4,

If you don't want to start PD and VM manually - then you can enable "Always ready in background option" in VM configuration > Options > Startup and shutdown.

Then you will be able to access NTFS drive without any additional actions from your side.

This is about resources. Running VM in the background is not a good option.
I guess the only way to solve this problem is for you to develop NTFS driver for MacOS and sell it as part of Parallels Toolbox.
I would suggest to investigate if there is a demand for it and then consider developing it.

Moving the thread to the Toolbox forum then.

In the meanwhile, Paragon software can do the job.

Adding this feature as part of Parallels Toolkit would be great. Please consider it. Writing to an NTFS drive natively on the Mac and without using a VM saves a lot of time. While Paragon can do this, it's at an additional cost. Consider adding this feature for users who already pay for and use Parallels software.

Yes please, NTFS write would be great. there is already a GitHub page with source so it shouldn't be too hard https://github.com/osxfuse
