More than 4 CPU/8GB in Standard Version

i bought the perpetual version as well, thinking my Linux (with i3! not even a desktop environment!) would work with 8gbyte as well, but as soon as i open teams and a few browser tabs the VM becomes very slow. this is very bad for a paid product. it wasn't even cheap. please give us at least 16gbyte or else it is just somethink like a paid demo.

opino lo mismo que tú solo que en mi caso propongo 32 gb ... frente a los 8 actuales... para trabajar dignamente y con una licencia de pago..

I am writing the following with the hope that someone at Parallels will read this and actually care:
I have used Parallels since v9. So far I have been very happy with my experience - until I downloaded the upgrade to v12. I use both MAC and PC to do my work. At the time I purchased my iMac, I maxed out the ram to 32GB - leaving my MAC experience with 16GB and my PC with 16GB - The recommended amount for the software I use on windows and MAC. Based on this, you can imagine my surprise and disappointment when I upgraded to the amazing new version only to find that, in true software developer fashion, you have changed the game without warning or concern. Limiting my VM to 8gb of ram because I refuse to purchase a subscription-based license for twice the price and an annual commitment (P.S. - I use my VM for hobbies and don't need a "PRO" version) is simply absurd. We all know that the glorious, resource-hogging windows OS can barely function on 8gb of ram - what's the point. This isn't 2005 anymore, we have no use for machines that can only, barely run a web browser and check email.
You have a product, it turns out that you found success because there was a need. You have now fallen into the trap of so many other developers and gotten greedy. Let me tell you something that you already know - nobody, NOBODY likes subscription licenses. Ever since the clowns at Adobe did it a few years back, every other developer with remotely useful software has decided that this should be the new standard. I have not upgraded and stopped purchasing adobe's CS since CS6 when they went to subscription. Subscriptions just give developers an excuse to release mediocre "upgrade" after mediocre upgrade since you don't actually have to fix anything or develop some new feature or tool that your users will want and therefore upgrade and boost your sales. As for parallels, I will NEVER purchase your software as a subscription. You have lost a loyal customer (one of may, I'm sure). I have always recommended your software to others who share my needs and interests, and there have been many. I will no longer suggest Parallels. I can't stand behind a company that unashamedly dupes their customers. Other options are out there, your organization would be wise to remember that in your pursuit of milking your loyal customers for more and more of our hard-earned money. I wish you were better than you are. Give us all a break.

As a dedicated and loyal follower of Parallels. This will be my last upgrade version of parallels due to the 8gb limitation. I'll be damned to pay a subscription to unleash what should be available to all.

I have no idea what version of Parallels you're running, but under 19.1, I have the option of up to 54 Gb of memory and the "other" option in case I want to use my own custom amount of memory.

Parallels Desktop for Mac 19.4.1 - Which is the latest version.
This is being run on an Apple MacBook Pro M2 Max with 64gb ram and 4tb SSD.
The Desktop (non subscription) version of parallels is limited to 4 cores and 8gb limit.
As mentioned not willing to pay for a subscription to unleash the unlimited version, which IMHO should be included.
If you are able to change your memory settings and core settings, then you must have a subscription based version.
Unless you have a hacked/modified version of a non subscription Parallels?

Ahh, that makes sense now. I also run 19.4.1 but I run the Pro version (I test OS and applications for a rather large client). I run Parallels Desktop Pro for Mac, Version 19.4.1 (54985). Only £10 more and you can have a whole new lot of problems :D

Please increase the amount of RAM and CPUs for the VM! This limitation was introduced at a time where 4 CPUs and 8 GB RAM was quite a lot and got you going for the most part. But the technical evolution kept going and therefore the limitation should advance with it and increase to something that is equivalent to what was 4 CPU / 8 GB RAM back then.

I know this limitation is in place to make some money, but right now there is a huge gap between Standard and Pro. Just double it to 8 CPU / 16 RAM and there is still an incentive to upgrade to Pro for people who need more. But in 2024, this limitation does not make sense anymore.

please stop this nonsense with the limitation, PD is with 8 GB Ram more like a Demo... I would agree to buy a higher Price for a perpetual license also, but this with the CPU Limitation and the Memory Limitation is really making loyal customers, leaving your platform for other VM products...

Moved to VMWare Fusion 13 without limit Ram/vCPU settings, so I don't need to upgrade my Standard Parallels license anymore.
I've been a beta tester for VMWare since Version 09 for Microsoft and Fusion 10 for Mac. I went back to VMWare because of the smaller O/S footprint and the configuration flexibility (and the fact that you can load the O/S from an ISO file). Don't get me wrong, Parallels got my staff through the VMWare transition flawlessly.

This is really shame and I hate this 8 GB artificial limitation, you intentionally put on us.
It is just marketing trick, to push people to buy subscription. That's all.

First I came to buy Parallels, but after I found this trick with offering just 8 GB RAM / 4 vCPU limitation,
this just made to actively search and look in detail for alternative solution. That's whole result.
You should definitely change it, so we as users can feel, you Parallels are serious about us.
Looks like a joke

8gb is absurd for 2025. Also the limitation is not mentioned on your products page. If I know you have this limitation I would not buy it the first place. I use it for gaming, and 8gb ram is super small.
