Getting the message "An unknown error occured" whenever I try to log in to iCloud

I bought the business version of Parallels for my MacMini M4 to replace VMWare Fusion which I had been using for years. However, my big problem is that I cannot log into iCloud or get to the AppStore. Whenever I try, I just get the message "An unknown error occurred" after I enter my password...

Parallels Desktop failed to allocate the specified amount of memory

I just replaced the hard drive in my new macbook pro with a larger one and I used super duper to clone the original drive and then put the image on the larger drive. Everything works fine except my Parallels 3 (release 5636) which now produces the error "Parallels Desktop failed to allocate...

Java cannot reserve enough memory for object heap

This problem is due to the Kapersky anti-virus product that comes with Parallels. I was not having this problem on my Parallels 3 VM where I don't run an AV program. However I was able to reproduce the issue by importing Mark's Parallels 4.0 VM into VMWare fusion and found the same limitation...

    Parallels 4 doesn't start up --- I'm screwed!

I waited about 10 minutes each time I tried it. Luckily 3.x still works fine.

    Parallels 4 doesn't start up --- I'm screwed!

What would you like a screen shot of? Nothing showed up in the screen (as I reported in the initial post). On the other hand, perhaps the console log might be useful.....see below --- Note in particular that it gets to the time 14:35:34 and then nothing happens ---- I left it until 14:55 at...

    Parallels 4 doesn't start up --- I'm screwed!

I've been using Parallels 3 for long time --- I got the upgrade to Parallels 4 some time ago but didn't bother to install it. Today, I downloaded the latest 4.0 and installed it on my MacBook Pro laptop. However, when I start it, NOTHING happens other than I can see a blue dot under the...

Parallels not starting properly --- hogging CPU

I want to apologize to John --- he was absolutely dead right about video corruption. It turns out there is actually a well-known problem with one of the ATI Radeon cards, the very one in my home machine where, if the heatsink gets clogged up, the card starts to overheat and the symptoms are...

Eclipse image editor crashes Windows VM BSOD

I have a lot of different versions of Java on my machine, since I'm doing Java development these days. Are you thinking that something in Java, perhaps related to image processing, is responsible for causing BSOD? If so, why only in Parallels? Cheers, D

Eclipse image editor crashes Windows VM BSOD

I wonder if the following might be of help debugging this --- I've been playing with Matisse (a GUI builder plugin for Eclipse). When I try to open a GUI form, Eclipse offers to switch me to the Matisse "perspective" (which has some graphics stuff in it). I've discovered that this works fine if...

Eclipse image editor crashes Windows VM BSOD

I would if I could get the BSOD to stay up long enough for me to be able to do a screen shot but it almost immediately restarts. I have found one or two other cases where doing something in Eclipse has caused a BSOD --- doesn't seem to be general problem, i.e, I can leave parallels running...

    MIDI on PARALLES

Yeah, the musiclab MIDI over ethernet product works very well. While I do most of my MIDI work on the Mac, there are a couple of very interesting soft synths and other tools that are only available under Windows. It would certainly be nice to have access to them directly --- parallels would...

Parallels not starting properly --- hogging CPU

More info --- my Mac (a highend DeskPro, with 6GB RAM in it) has been running 24 hours/day for the last 2 weeks. I shut it down and restarted it and then restarted Parallels and the white line problem appears to have gone away. I did NOT reinstall Parallels. Now the Mac itself has been...

Parallels not starting properly --- hogging CPU

    1) When I updated, (as has happened on all previous updates) I was immediately prompted to install Parallels Tools, after which I rebooted the machine. I just did that again, it made no difference. 2) Regarding video card memory corruption --- why would Parallels have worked flawlessly for...

Parallels not starting properly --- hogging CPU

I was not at build 5626 (though I thought I was). However, after upgrading to 5626, from time to time I am now seeing horizontal white lines just flash across the screen. Moving the mouse around randomly and clicking makes them come and go. Anyone know what that's about?

Parallels not starting properly --- hogging CPU

I do not see any mem or sav files anywhere --- perhaps I'm not understanding what you mean by "VM folder". I looked in the location where Parallels is installed and I also looked in the location where the Windows virtual machine lives.

Thanks for the quick response, I'll try these.

Parallels not starting properly --- hogging CPU

Recently (that is, before I installed 10.5.6), I noted that if Parallels (3.x) had been running and was then suspended and closed, starting it again (just to bring up the Parallels window, not even actually starting up a VM) would SOMETIMES not work properly. My Mac would become extremely...

Arrggg--what am I missing --- problem after resizing VM

Just also wanted to let interested people know that I tried using Parallel Image Tool followed by GParted on a different Windows VM on a different Macintosh and the process worked like a charm, first time....so clearly whatever was going on with earlier versions of GParted is really fixed now.

Arrggg--what am I missing --- problem after resizing VM

I don't know why...but before I tried creating a new HD, and after reading about the "known bug" in gparted, I went to the gparted website and noted there was a new version. Just for grins, I downloaded it and had the following experience: 1) Upon startup, it showed that my C drive was at...

Arrggg--what am I missing --- problem after resizing VM

Thanks, John --- can you point me at the appropriate reference for how to proceed under this circumstance?
