Yes this works. You'll need to edit the config and fix a few things like audio & cd sinnce the names differ between Windows and OSX. And you'll need to reinstall Parallels Tools since it's specific to the version of Parallels in use. But I have done this quite a few times and it does work.

The Windows version seems to work quite well under XP for me.

Put the VM in its own subdirectory then delete any remnant link in ~/Documents/.parallels-vm-directory and try again.

Or, as I said above, don't store the VMs all in one subdirectory. If each VM is in a different subdirectory the each has its own Windows Applications.

Keep your VMs in seperate subdirectories and not all in the same directory.
