Boot Camp modifies Windows VM?

After upgrading to Leopard, I rebooted and got some kind of Boot Camp error message.

I didn't pay much attention to it, but then I noticed that I started to experience the same problems that other people have stated in other threads:

My only recourse was to revert to my snapshot, which (fortunately) I had created just before the Leopard upgrade.

Shortly after I reverted, the Boot Camp installer once again attempted to install inside the Parallels Windows image (see linked image). I suspect that the problems I encountered after the upgrade will resume. We shall see...

No, I have never used Boot Camp. It was a Parallels image that the Boot Camp installer tried to install on, not a boot disk partition.

It seems that Boot Camp detects Windows disk images as well as partitions when it's installed.
 
I just suspended the Windows guest, and Parallels hung. I saved a copy of the problem report before I submitted it to Apple.

Then, I tried starting Windows from the stopped state, and my Macbook Pro froze. After I powered up the Macbook, I reverted to my last good snapshot.

This time, I cancelled the Windows Installer for Boot Camp before it had a chance to run.

It appears to have resolved the problem. I can suspend and resume my Windows guest OS without it hanging on suspend or freezing the Macbook on startup.

If there is a permanent way to prevent the Windows Installer for the Bootcamp Installer from starting up, please let me know, I may not be as quick to cancel it next time...

please go to Configuration Editor of Your VM. There you can find a 'CD/DVD-Rom' tab. Could you please tell me, what is written there? Or if possible please make a screenshot.

Next time I have to stop the VM, I will do that. I don't want to stop it right now, because I may not be able to start it again.

There is a DVD that is mounted right now that's visible to Windows, not the Mac, it's the Mac OS 10.5 DVD.

I won't be able to stop the VM any more due to Parallels instability (see my other post)

Hello,

could you please in Parallels go 'Devices' -> 'CD/DVD-Rom' in Mac menu and click 'Disconnect' there?
