Do Not Sleep

When I start my M2 MacBook Pro and close the lid the display turns off as it should when on power or battery.
Once I activate do not sleep and then deactivate it when I close the lid the display will no longer turn off when on battery.
if I plug it into power then the display will turn off when I close the lid.
I can prove this all the time by removing and plugging in power and closing the lid.
The only way to stop this is by a reboot of the Mac and not activating Do Not Sleep and it works fine.
Anyone else have this issue, can this be looked into by the support team ?
Thanks.
