At long last I used the Fedora upgrading tools to move my Linux VM to v. 37 on my way to v. 39. The package download, etc., all went smoothly, but on reboot after the install it hangs at "Loading initial ramdisk...". It's been more than 20 minutes so I doubt it is doing something silently in the background. How do I force a complete reboot from shutdown? It appears to always attempt to resume from suspend. Did I miss a step in the process of doing such an upgrade? Thanks
OK I did the full reboot and was given the choice of boot options. I went back to v 36 and was able to do a full boot-up. So the remaining question is: Is the v 37 option hosed, or is there a way debug the problem?
