What Mac OS do you have? Tiger or Leo?

I finally fixed this, in case anyone else has the same problem.
It turned out that the default location for saving the VM was simply not fully written out for some reason. I manually created a Parallels folder in documents, and changed the save location to that folder.
    Everything worked perfectly.
    Simple fix.

    Vinco,
You are my hero! I'd had the same problem, and reported in a thread here months ago. And, like your case, the moderator was unable to provide the quick resolution... but you did, thank you. I can now finally launch my Boot Camp XP in Parallels :)

I had the same problem with Parallels. I was going to buy Parallels after I had tried the demo, but I spent nearly a whole day trying different ways of installing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Parallels to no avail.
Tired of Parallels I downloaded a demo version of VM Fusion. I had windows XP up and running perfectly in about 40 minutes, with network (everything works perfectly). I have only been interested in Parallels I have actually never Looked at FM Fusion before yesterday. Now I will be ordering 3 copies for our Macs today.

Parallels suddenly works now and begins to install windows, but my joy is short lived as parallels stalls after about 10 minutes when it is collecting info prior to installation when there is between 36 and 40 minutes left. Sometimes it restarts a number of times at the same stage. I'm sticking with VM Fusion as it is much more reliable.

    Please perform following steps:
    1. Delete failed VM fodler in Documents/Parallels
    2. Start new installation and select Express method ,
    3. Do not start installation
    4. Disable in Configuration Editor- Options - Advanced - Hardware acceleration and Intel VT-x

I have done that and I gave the system more ram and it works finé with with XP service pack 3. But it was not without difficulties, where as FM fusion was much easier to install and run. It was in actual fact Automatic. Thank you for your help.
