installing a MAC program to load forces windows

Brand new MACBOOK M1pro. installed Parallels 18 and the Windows that came with it. Without Parallels running, I tried to install MS Office on Mac side. When I do that, Parallels forces Windows to open so the MAC installation fails.

Suggestions are appreciated.

To let us better understand the situation, please perform the following steps:
1. Reproduce the issue.
2. Collect a technical report (click the Parallels icon on top of the mac menu bar > Help > Send technical data > check "Attach screenshots..." > press Send Report) and send the report's 9-digit ID
3. Provide us with a step-by-step detailed reproduction of the issue.
4. The Installer of the MS Office app ends with ".dmg" or ".exe" ?
