You gotta be kidding me, you're using this thread as an indicator? Logitech, perhaps the single biggest consumer webcam OEM, is notoriously hopeless at developing software for the mac platform. Subsequently there's a huge need for support for mac converts whom have no choice but to run their webcams in windows environments. There's bootcamp of course, but the major selling point of parallels is supposedly that people can do away with bootcamp! (aside from gaming)

Well I hate to say it mate...
But good luck with resolving the issue if you're not going to do anything until you get models given to you....

Not exactly what one could call a "pro-active" stance! ;-)

I won't "stoke the fire" anymore because I suspect there's nothing but tiny embers left anyway... I must say though, the lack of enthusiam for addressing concerns doesn't exactly inspire confidence!

But I'm over trying to ride you guys on this...
Maybe you'll address this deficiency when it suits you, or maybe you won't?

Either way, the impression I've gotten from this thread is not terribly flattering.
Ciao for good on this matter.

I suppose we are talking different things
    1. I am asking about models that are very specific to be supported
    2. You are turning this into general tendency
Mass market products will be supported out of the box :)

Hi guys, I'm on Quickcam Pro 9000 and the program crashes as soon as I launch it. It's the most popular webcam used out there so many people would appreciate it if you could sort that webcam out in particular. Thanks very much in advance.

Well apologies if I have misunderstood parallels intent for support in this area.

If you do intend to support mass market devices, I stand ready to provide any feedback you require to make your job easier!

Just let me know what you want me dig up and I'll get it to you.

We are asking about some special webcams, which customers want to be supported, for example LAN connected Webcams, based on feedback , we will try to implement

what's the expected time frame to have most mass market cams working properly & in a stable fashion?

Perhaps my camera is working fine now....
I must admit I haven't tested it with the latest build yet!

By "late summer" you mean northern hemisphere summer right?

It's probably about time you created a fresh thread (migrate relevant posts from this) with a better heading etc.

    ciao,

How are you progressing with parallels 4 now? You mentioned "later summer" hopefully..
Are there any beta builds that you'll be releasing for public testing soon?

    Cheers,

This is a very exotic problem considering that almost all intel macs (except the Mac Mini) come with built-in webcam. Because of this, there seems to be very little motivation on Parallels behalf to deal with misbehaving webcams.
