I was psyched to buy my upgrade to Parallels 8 today, but this quickly turned to disappointment.

I'm running Mac OS 10.8.1 on a 2012 MacBook Air, and previously ran Parallels 7 wonderfully. When I start the Parallels 8 installer, I'm prompted to accept the license agreement, and immediately afterward the installer (v ParallelsDesktop-8.0.18085.795013.dmg) crashes. I've re-dlownloaded the installer, I tried removing parallels 7 and all supporting files, and trying again but no dice.

Any advice before I ask for a refund?

    Many Thanks,

    Steve

Same thing here. PD8 installer crashes immediately on 2007 MacPro running Lion and 2012 Macbook Air i7 running Mountain Lion.

Please give me a fix or my $50 back until you have a fix. Thanks.

The installer freezes up on my mac when I try to install it. I've submitted a support request.

Try restarting your mac, I just did and parallels installed.

    PD8 install crash

I tried rebooting my Mac Pro running Lion and still cannot get the installer to run.

On my MacBook Air 2012 i7, I was able to complete the installation without any problems.

SteveHowes, Wheezer, BudJ more detailed information needed.
Please, press "Report..." button in crash message box, then copy text from "Problem Details and System Configuration" and post it here (or send to me).

    Solved!

    Folks,

I just got off a Parallels Chat Support session, and found my solution. My issue was trying to run the Installer from behind my company's firewall. In order to set up a remote session, I had to disconnect from the corporate network and re-conned via my Verizon MiFi .. and at that point the Installer worked just great. The first thing the installer does is try to update itself, and I'm guessing if it can't connect back, it crashes.

    Thanks all,

    S

    Hey,
could you please reproduce the crash and right after it go to Applications/Utilities/Console, find system.log there in left panel and send it to hanna@parallels.com?

    Thanks in advance,
    Hanna

    Hey,
does anyone here use tablet with his host? We reproduced the crash using tablet and now trying to understand if this could be a root cause.

I have a Wacom Pen&Touch (driver 5.2.5-3). Unplugged it for the install, replugged after, and now everything's working great.
    Thanks for the help

    Yes, I use a Wacom Intuos 5

All I had to do was unplug it and it installed normally.

    Thanks for the help!

Your so wrong....Have the same issue and NO tablets installed......Its obvious that no one there has any idea to what the solution is......I tried to install on 4 machines all with mountain lion and 3 had no tablets installed and they all had same issue and crash report. It's obvious still in beta trail and should charge for such buggy software
