Parallels Desktop 8 not running on OS Mavericks (10.9) and you have to buy the Update for 49,99 € – that’s not true, is it?

If you read the message it actually suggests you a free update to newer build of Parallels Desktop 8.

The Update (8.0.18494.886912 > 8.0.18608.898384) didn’t load and kept crashing so far.
But if you say [ skip this version ] it boots and is working. Sorry for being a Troll.

    Hi everyone,

If you are having issues on Parallels Desktop 8 and Mavericks, please make sure you are running the most recent updates available.
Parallels Desktop Menu>Check For Updates>Install if you are not running the most recent update.

    Hello everyone,

I did what it was suggested "uninstall then reinstall parallel desktop, check if it is the latest version ". Unfortunately, my two virtual machines always crash .
Has anyone an idea to solve this issue.

    thanks

    Hi,

I have a problem with installing the Parallel desktop 9 on new OS X, I downloaded the file 4 times, and every time I try to install it, after asking my mac user name and password and copying some files it is closed suddenly the file in the Application folder doesn't work and an error shows the installation were incomplete.

Could you advice how to fix this ?!

    Regards

After installing Mavericks PD8 would not start. So I uninstalled the previous version of PD8 and downloaded the version 8.0.18608.898384
However it wont start and gives me the message " Unable to start Parallels services. Please relaunch Parallels Desktop. If the problem persists, contact the Parallels support team for assistance".
I tried http://kb.parallels.com/114703. It does not work. Please help.

I'm also having a issue not being able to run Mavericks under 8.0.18608

Does Parallels 8 latest build only support DP ? or full release from the App Store ? I get an "No OS…" error at boot… even though it picks up the installESD.dmg image inside the app

I also heard (from other sources), that Apple has changed the way Mavericks boots…. When creating a usb key, you do NOT use installESD anymore… Maybe this could be a link ?

Followed the instructions from earlier post:

    Follow instructions at http://kb.parallels.com/en/114624

Uninstall then reinstall - everything works OK now.

Make sure to DL latest release of Parallels 8

    Vm's are now working normally.

Just in case Parallels Desktop 8 still doesn't work on Mavericks after updating to the latest build, make sure you try not only to reinstall via the in-app installer, but use the Terminal part from http://kb.parallels.com/en/114624

    Hi,

I'm still crashing with Mavericks and Parallel's 8, when starting the VM. I've done the following:
    - Uninstalled/reinstalled as described here http://kb.parallels.com/en/114624
    - Uninstalled/reinstalled again, this time using the terminal to uninstall
    - Changed the VM configuration as described here http://kb.parallels.com/en/116822 , though note that I have a MBP Mid 2012, not Mid 2010
    - Ensured that I am using the latest build of Parallels 8
    - Ran repair disk permissions as requested by Parallel's email support team

    Please help.

    Thanks!

Update: I also run VirtualBox. I'm wondering if there's an incompatibility between VB and Parallels. Is there a known issue?
