I'm running a 2011 iMac with SSD, and 16Gb memory on High Sierra 10.13.6 I am using Parallels Desktop Version 15.1.2 (47123) as this was the last version to support Windows XP. PD 16 dropped all support for XP, and I am very happy with version 15.1 and XP. I use XP as using older legacy software with no problems Every now and then, I get a tiny freeze with XP on Parallels? Does anyone know what causes this? It then slows, and goes back to where it was, which can be tricky when doing editing in Windows XP on Parallels? Is there a setting that I maybe haven't ticked to give XP full power in Parallels while I am using it?
Hi, what is your virtual machine CPU and RAM settings? Do you have an issue only with a specific application?
Hi I am running a 16GB iMac and with Parallels 15 and a small cut down stripped version of Windows XP which is very fast. My Virtual RAM for Parallels is 2048 MB (it can be set between 256mb - 4GB) so I think this is a good compromise. Its also using 2 Processors. Also I am only running older but stable software as its Windows XP, notably Sony Sound Forge v8.0 and Acid Pro 6.0 which take very little RAM anyway.
