PD8 Parallels 8 tools

I have a problem similar to those here, but PD 8 version 8.0.18494, just downloaded. There were many possible causes noted in KB's none of which seems to make a bit of a difference. The Report ID is 26182728. I filled out a ticket and got a Support ID. Is there anything else needed? Funny, but the install went smoothly on several other VM's. This one (Win XP) in particular has often been an issue updating Parallels Tools (in previous builds) and continues to be an issue now. Why?
 
My installer is also crashing. I sign up for a trial and everything works fine and then it pops up with two things saying like windows 8 and windows 8 1 with two red question marks next to them and crashes. It is essential that I have this fixed for tomorrow as I need it to work and get paid. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
