    Nope, no diverting

    Hi Elrich,
I searched parallels.log bug no sign of "diverting".

I also looked at the full Console Messages and found interesting messages at parallels launch time (I added the emphasis):

    Hi,
    I meant install.log, not a parallels..

All this shows that there are some troubles in system.. These files are related to not a parallels applications.

So, I still think that the trouble with Parallels is due to diverting during install

No sign of diverting in parallels install log

    Hi Elric,

I'm afraid there is no sign of "diverting" in the parallels installer log. I just ran the parallels installer again just to be sure.

    Thanks,
    Frank

    I've fixed the problem

    Hi Elrich,
I wanted to report that I've managed to fix the problem and Parallels is now working.

I noticed that even though I had been reinstalling, the modification dates on most of the Parallels items in /Applications were not updating. So in addition to removing everything Parallels that I could find in /Library I also deleted the Parallels items in /Applications.

This time when I ran the installer it put up a dialog saying that a newer version of Parallels was available and would I like to update? I voted yes, and it downloaded a new version and installed that. Somehow this time it fixed the problem and Parallels appears to be working fine again.

    Thanks,
    Frank

How do you check that prl_disp_service is running

    Hi

I am having the above error the only way get into parallels is re-instal everytime after reboot - MY REPORT NUMBER IS 7893761

My question is how do I check that the service above is activated, and how do I activate it if it is not?

    Thanks

I see that you have already applied steps with setting correct permissions ( "sudo chmod 644 com.parallels.desktop.launchdaemon.plist" etc). Does the issue still persists?

It is possible to check in the /Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor. The process is named "prl_disp_service"

OK, still getting that error message after restarting the MAC. The disp_service is not visible in the activity monitor. The only way I am going to be able to open the parallels is re-instal it. PLEASE HELP :)

    New error log 7895482

Any chance we can talk on the phone?

Hi, support is not my primary work activity, my boss will kill me if I spend too much time on it. Seems that you need to create a support-ticket

May be repairing permissions will help, I see there are messges in log:
Feb 14 09:36:03 iMac com.apple.launchctl.Background[87]: launchctl: Dubious ownership on file (skipping): /Library/LaunchAgents
Feb 14 09:36:03 iMac com.apple.launchctl.LoginWindow[90]: launchctl: Dubious ownership on file (skipping): /Library/LaunchAgents

    please reffer to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2963 :

"For Mac OS X 10.2 or later, open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/). Select your Mac OS X startup volume in the column on the left of the Disk Utility window, then click the First Aid tab. Click the Repair Disk Permissions button. You may see an erroneous message."

This worked for me after I recently fitted a new HD in my MacBookPro, migrated all my stuff back from a Time Machine backup but Parallels 4 wasn't working. Ran the terminal commands as suggested and it started.
