Not sure what is going on, I have the latest build, which has the Windows 8 RP options. It downloads the ISO, but when it boots up the VM to install, I see the word Windows for a few seconds then I get the new Win 8 blue screen "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart." and then it just loops doing that until it is stopped.

I did not change any of the defaults parallels setup, just clicked next :)

Any ideas? Windows 7 installs just fine.

Same problem here with the new Retina MacBook Pro trying to run Windows 8:

"After multiple tries, the operating system on your PC failed to start, so it needs to be repaired.
    Error code: 0xc0000001"

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED showing up on another error screen.

Ending up in a loop crashing and booting.

Would be great if Parallels can comment.

    Hi,
thank you for feedback, we do appreciate it!
To investigate the issue we need some technical information, so could you please reproduce it, send us Problem Report as described in http://kb.parallels.com/en/9058 and give me an ID?

    Thanks in advance,

Same problem for me with windows 8

    Same problem.

Just keeps looping.....Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart......keeps trying to restart, keeps running into a problem.

Getting same error message: system thread exception not handled.

Running parallels 7 on a brand new macbook air, Lion, 8GB ram.

    Parallels, please help. Thanks.

Thanks for having a look, Parallels support.

FWIW, I'm seeing this as well. Tried every Parallels / VM setting I could find, removed various virtual devices, etc., but nothing worked.

    MBP w/ Retina (2.6 / 16 / 512)

I have the same issue on the new MacBook Air 13".

Windows 8, Ubuntu 11.10, Linux Mint. All kernel panic/boot loop. The only VM that will still run is XP.
Glad to know you guys are on it!

Just an FYI.... This also affects all the Linux distros with a somewhat recent kernel (2.6.43 and newer). I can not boot Linux either. Hope a fix is found soon!!!

Yes, I'm having the same problem on my MB Retina. You might want to let your support people know about this. I just spent a very frustrating half hour with someone who basically kept telling me it was a Microsoft problem.

You guys making any progress on this? The only reason I bought Parallels was to run Win8. Thanks very much for your efforts.

    Hi everyone,

Had Parallels years ago and just came back to a new MacBook Pro. Installed Parallels and tried Windows 8 install and I am getting the same error. Please post with a status update on the issue.

    Thanks

Windows 8 PR not working on MBP Retina

Same issue encountered on my new MacBook Pro Retina. Tried different install options (i.e. like a mac / like a PC, custom vs express settings route, etc.) with no success.

I see on Twitter that an update has come out to fix this. How do I get the update? My software is showing that I have the latest version. Can you post a link to the update?

I checked out the link pointed to by their latest tweet, but it points to a post from June 4:

Doesn't appear to be anything new yet.

same issue here, but Windows 7 install works

With new MBP with Retina I get the same error as the rest.

Installing Windows 7 with SP1 has no issues.

Pulling in Boot Camp of Windows 8 RC also has same error as above.

Thanks Parallels, I'm sure you all are working hard to make Parallels on Retina awesome.

I have the same problem on the new MacBook Air. This is incredibly frustrating, as I couldn't get Parallels 6 to work with my 4 year old macbook pro last year.

    Any update?
