There are a number of other threads here reporting this problem. You might want to check those to see what's being done to solve the update problem. (Hint: leave feedback on the MS Feedback Hub)

    Same. 2023 MBP M2 Pro.
Saw another post from a while back that suggested changing the VM "hard disk" connection, like instead of SATA 1 if that is your default, change it to IDE whatever. The problem is, a lot of people don't have anything other than SATA, and I tried changing it to another SATA port, but it did not fix the issue.

This does not seem like an issue with Windows 11 on ARM in general. I have multiple Snapdragon based ARM64 machines running Windows 11 natively and they have all been able to get this update without any issue. The problem seems to only happen in Parallels on Apple Silicon based Macs

A virtual machine emulates a hard drive it does not rely on there being a specific hard drive type. You can still emulate an IDE or a SCSI whether your machine has that specific drive type or not.

Same issue here. So do I delete Parallels 19.4.0 and my virtual machine, reinstall, find out it is still broken, or just wait for Parallels to fix this? Even VmWare in the old days was faster than this is correcting issues. Oh well.

Same here on a Mac Studio M2. I tried the stand-alone updater too and it failed too.

Do not reinstall Windows; doing so does not fix the problem.

My Mac is an M3 MacBook Pro, and like others, I encounter failures with Windows Update on Windows 11 Pro running on Parallels Desktop in a Japanese environment. The installation progresses to about 30%, after which the reboot process begins, but it enters a reboot loop and restores to the state before the update.

I believe that NigelH1 was referring to how IDE isn't always an option in Parallels for the hard disk. For example, I don't have it. I just have SATA port options. This is on an M1 MBA. I'm just clarifying because I'm also looking for a solution to this issue. Thanks!

I have the same problem tried reinstall the update I think at least 4 times all failed. For now I uninstalled the failed update and saved a snapshot for now. However I have VMware Fusion too and have managed to install with no problems on my MacBook Air M1, so I think it's a Parallels issue. Parallels is still way better setup but VMware version works this time for updates. I use the free version of VMware now apparently you can get the Pro version for free from Broadcom but I haven't managed to get the Pro version still Player version currently.
