Hello DavidB23,I have a very similar problem happening. It's been happening for about 2 months, not sure I can pinpoint a date or reason. Windows 10, running on MBAir with Parallels 10, which I recently upgraded to 11, hoping this would resolve the issue, which it has not.
I have followed all procedures above, including disabling Windows Defender and Antivirus. Also specifically I followed Guna's instructions through to step 4. I had problems with step 4 as the run command didn't find any installers in the temp folder. So at this stage I ran the PTAgent as administrator.
So If I run it as regular user (which is an administrator anyway) the installer reports failure around 10-15%, but if I run it as Administrator the installer gets to 60%, changes screen size, goes to 67% and pauses there for a few seconds and then reports the failure with a window requiring reboot. The result dow not seem to differ whether AV and Defender are off or on.
I'm getting rather tired of this. All for getting Dynamic Resolution and speakers back.
I tried to follow this procedure to the letter, however there were some things that didn't work...Hello DavidB23,
Try the below steps and see if that helps you
1. Open the Start menu, type in 'cmd' (Command Prompt) without quotes, right-click on the application and choose Run as Administrator.
In Command Prompt type in: sfc /scannow (hit Return/Enter) and wait until the operation is completed.
2. Follow this article to install Parallels Tools manually ( Follow Scenario 3: Most complicated)
Thanks,
Guna
Hello Davidb23,I tried to follow this procedure to the letter, however there were some things that didn't work...
- The sfc /scannow did not find any errors.
- Windows did not allow me to delete every file for %temp%, even after reboot
- The Parallels Mounter would not work in Parallels 11 so instead I moved the file over across Google Drive.
- I ran the Setup from the copied and extracted folder. it got to roughly the same spot, shortly after it adjusted screen size, and then started reporting Rolling Back action, after which there was a dialog reporting unsuccessful install, and that I should restart. I t created a log, which I've attached. Note that there seem to be 3 major events in this log: Initial startup, first install attempt and second install attempt.
Hello @SethS1,Guna, the most recent suggestion didn't work. Any other ideas? Thanks.
Seth
